Earlier this week Paramount Pictures announced the upcoming title to Transformers 5.
So without further ado, brace yourselves for the release of “Transformers: The Last Knight” hitting cinemas June 23rd 2017.
It has been confirmed that Michael Bay will continue to sit in the director’s chair for his fifth continuous Transformer movie, and is to be joined on set by superstar Mark Wahlberg, who will return as Cade Yeager; the same lead character seen in “Transformers: Age of Extinction”, as well as new roles for Isabela Moner set to play the film’s new lead female character Izabella (pretty original. Lol), and Jerrod Carmichael, whose role has yet to be revealed.
Shortly after the Paramount’s initial announcement, it was made public that Josh Duhamel will be reprising his role as Lieutenant Colonel Lennox, which is exciting news for fans of the first three films… sigh, if only we could see the return of Shia LaBeouf. On the upside, the film is set to be written by the “Iron Man” screenwriter prophets Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.
Production is set to kick off on the 6th of June in Detroit before moving to various other locations around the world.
The entire Transformers film franchise has so far brought in over $3.7 billion at the global box office, so no wonder there are currently negotiations taking place for a Bumblebee spin-off film expected to arrive by 2018. It makes me wonder how many of these films will succeed before we reach ‘Transformers 20: spawning money, lingering plot’?
