Here are some great anime sequels to look forward to in 2018!

The year of 2017 reached such a high standard when it comes to anime, so upcoming 2018 anime has definitely got its work cut out for it. And it cannot get here sooner.

So let’s take a look at some of the most hyped and anticipated anime sequels of the upcoming year that is 2018. Here’s what we’ve got to look forward too.

1 – Fairy Tail (The Final Season)

Starting off with a huge bang we have the final arc of the Fairy Tail story. The wizards and mage of the feisty guild are back for one last time in this epic Shonen series.

Natsu and the gang have returned to take on a new enemy as well as some from their past. Being announced as the final season, it will most like follow the final arc in the manga, ‘The Alvarez Empire’.

This means we get to see a lot more of Zeref and the beastly Acnologia. Along with the epic clashes to come, fans are excited to see how each love interest in the show play out.

2 – Attack on Titan (Season 3)

In 2017, we just witness the literal clash of titans in the form of Eren vs the Armored Titan. And we already have a third season on the way.

From what we’ve seen so far, the Survey Corps will find themselves up against the Beast Titan, the weird tiny ones, as well as the threat within the wall.

Looking at the teaser poster we received, it seems we’ll be seeing a lot more of our favourite throat-slasher, Lt. Levi.

We’re so excited to see what they do in terms of the brilliantly animated fight scenes.

3 – Tokyo Ghoul: Re

I don’t know how I feel about this one. On the one hand I’m glad that the canon manga sequel to the original Tokyo Ghoul is finally being animated.

Then again, I stand with the opinion that ‘Root A’ wasn’t that bad, despite it having numerous plotholes. So what do I know? I mean, is Kanaki good? Is the ghoul still within him? Manga readers are probably so mad at me but I guess we’re going to have to be patient.

We don’t know if this new entry will humiliate Root A. Is it going to connect the two in some way? We know by now that anime adaptations don’t always stick to the manga religiously, so again, we’ll have to wait and see.

4 – High School DxD Hero

Houdo Issei

Okay, you know you love this anime, don’t lie to me, we all do. This show knows exactly what it is and even more what we fans want. For many reasons, it is, quite simply, epic.

Issei and his ever-expanding harem of lovely ladies return with a fourth season. With our lucky hero having to deal with typical anime teen life, slaying rival demons and living the ultimate high school fantasy. But hey, that’s all in a days work for Houdo Issei and his band of demons.

You tell your friends you watch this series for the “plot” and they look at you with judgement. Well I am here to defend you, my friend. Take away the fan service that the show so happily provides, I actually like the story, design and animation of the anime.

Whether if its the apocalyptic clashes between heaven and hell, or just our main man Issei being goofy at school with his friends. The progression of story is very well done and balanced, and with the show being produced by a new studio, I can’t wait to see what they do next.

5 – My Hero Academia (Season 3)

Midorya Izuku (2017)

This year we got the epic second season thrown at us, and we enjoyed every second of it. Now in 2018, we’re gonna have to go ‘Plus Ultra’ once again.

The second entry definitely delivered on more than we could have expected. So now the superheroes of UA High and the ‘League of Villains’ are set to face off early next year. The third season will undoubtedly take our heroes out of the classroom, and into a battlefield.

We will, with no doubt, get more out of the notorious ‘All-for-one’ and his ties with the League, so this season could not get here soon enough.

6 – Seven Deadly Sins – Revival of the Commandments

After managing to free Britannia of its tyrannical rule, Meliodas and the rest of the Sins are going to square off against a much more demonic band of foes. In this season we see, as mentioned in the title, the revival of the Ten Commandments.

Ten individuals who, similar to the Sins, are the personification of a certain quality. Yet, unlike the sins, they represent virtues instead of vices.

Serving under Demon King, our main hero’s father, the ultimate clash is waiting to happen between vices and virtues. I can speak for all Seven Deadly Sins fans when I say we can NOT wait for this season to be released.

7 – One Punch Man (Season 2)

Saitama

You know that I keep the best for last and oh boy, did I. The rumoured second season was a no-show in 2017, but our excitement was only sky-rocketed.

Even when 2018 will be dominated by superhero releases like My Hero Academia or even The Avengers, OPM will surely make a huge impact. We will get to see one of, if not the strongest characters in anime take on other heroes as well as the mysterious Monster Association.

All it takes is one of Saitama’s serious fist-bumps, and we’re gonna be in for a good time.

And there you have my picks for the top anticipated anime sequels 2018. Definitely keep a look out for these releases.
