2018 is just around the corner and with it a new year of movies. These are the upcoming 2018 movies to get most excited about.
Yes indeed, 2017 is very nearly over. So what upcoming 2018 movies do we have to look forward to?
Most of the movies I watch are horror related. So excuse me for the first half of 2018 being full of the supernatural, aliens, crazy science, and superheroes.
January 2018
1 – Insidious: The Last Key
We’re not done with parapsychologist Dr. Elise Rainier. Her past comes back to haunt her in this latest chapter of the Insidious franchise: what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger. Elise as faced many demons in her life, from a child to adult. Now she must face the demons in her family home.

2 – Untitled Cloverfield Movie (God Particle)

We are taken to space where a scientific experiment dealing with a particle accelerator brings unexpected results. The crew, trapped in space, must fight to survive when a space shuttle approaches. The story is part of the Cloverfield franchise. It is not a sequel to Cloverfield; it is part of the same Cloverfield universe.
3 – Winchester: The House That Ghosts Built
True events inspire the movie. A house built by Sara Winchester, 50 miles outside of San Francisco, California. The home was constructed working 24 hours a day, seven days a week for decades. The house is seven stories tall and contains over a hundred rooms. Why does Sarah need all those rooms? Maybe for all the souls who were killed by the Winchester repeating rifle?
4 – Black Panther
The Marvel Universe is expanding to the world of Wakanda, a reclusive, technological advanced African nation. T’Challa finds factions within his country challenge his reign. He must team up with his allies to defeat those who threaten Wakanda and the world.
5 – Annihilation
The movie is based on the Southern Reach Trilogy, by Jeff Vandermeer. Annihilation is the first book of the three-part series. All three books together form Area X.
With her husband laying between life and death, a biologist and four other women join the twelfth expedition into an environmental disaster zone, known as The Shimmer. During the journey, they find topographic anomalies, new life forms, and secrets exposed.

6 – The Strangers: Prey at Night
A family road trip takes a turn for the worst when they must stay in a secluded mobile home park. Three masked psychopathic strangers decide to pay the visiting family a visit. Will the movie live up to Bryan Bertino’s The Strangers, surpass it, or bomb?
7 – Tomb Raider
Lara Croft is back in action with a revamped look. Her father disappears while she was a teenager. Now, 21-year-old, Lara has no focus or purpose in life, living in London as a bike courier and student, trying to make ends meet and make it to classes on time. She succumbs to needing to know what happened to her father and sets out to his last-known destination, an island off the coast of Japan.
8 – Ready Player One
Based off Ernest Cline’s novel of the same name, the creator of the virtual reality OASIS dies, he releases a challenge to the users to find the Easter Egg that will gain the lucky winner his fortune. The movie is chalk full of pop culture references, which makes it a movie you will need to watch many times to get all the reference.

9 – A Quiet Place
It must take a massive toll on a family who lives in an area, that if you make a noise, you become the hunted. This new take on the horror genre is about a family, living a quiet and simple life in the woods. Their life is so quiet; they communicate using sign language. They take steps to eliminate any noise, but when the children accidentally make noise, all hell breaks loose, and the family must do what it takes to survive.
10 – The New Mutants
The Marvel Universe is at it again. Following X-Men: The Last Stand, five teenagers discover their mutant abilities while held in a secret facility. They must face their past to survive. The movie stars Charlie Heaton of Stranger Things.
May 2018
11 – Avengers: Infinity War
Bad guy Thanos must be defeated before he destroys everything. The movie brings The Guardians of the Galaxy to the world of the Avengers.
12 – Slender Man

We all know the story of Slender Man. No face, tall, long arms and eater of children. Teenagers must face the legend of Slender Man.
13 – Solo: A Star Wars Story

A pre-equal to the Star Wars films. We get to see a young Han Solo and Chewbacca on their adventures before running into Luke and the Rebellion.
June 2018
14 – Deadpool 2
Our favourite merc with a mouth is back in action. Enough said.
15 – Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
In Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the island’s volcano awakens, Owen and Claire must rescue the dinosaurs from another extinction.
