Prepare thy wallets, the Steam Summer Sale could be just days away, so check your wish-list and take out those loans.

If your’e anything like me you buy a majority of your PC games twice a year: During the Steam Winter Sale and Steam Summer Sale. The latter could be potentially only a matter of days away.

The Steam Summer Sale offers massive discounts across thousands of games store-wide, with discounts up to 90% off in some cases. If there are any games you have been waiting to spend your hard earned on, this is the perfect time to do it.

Not only are there massive price reductions, but the Steam Summer Sale often comes with fun mini games and the all important Summer Sale trading cards. These virtual cards are released at the start of the sale and you can accumulate them every time you spend $10 USD. If you collect the set you can get a fancy badge, and in previous years you can “prestige” your bade by getting the same set multiple times.

Pro tip, if you don’t care much about the cards then sell them immediately at the start of the sale when they are worth about 40c each as they quickly reduce in value to sit anywhere between 8c – 12c.

When can we expect the sale?

If last year is anything to go by the sale will commence about June 23, which was last year’s date. However there are rumours that the sale could begin in a couple of days on June 22 and last up until July 5th (add a day for Australia), which I hope is the case.

Mini games and trading cards aside, it is easily the best time to buy those games you have been holding out for.
