Various images from the set of The Flash movie have emerged on the internet over the past week. They not only give us a look at Sasha Calle as Supergirl, but we also see Michael Keaton returning to the role of Bruce Wayne. Originally, The Flash was slated for release in 2018, but this was delayed due to multiple troubles in the development processes. It is now scheduled for November 4th 2022.

The movie sees Ezra Miller returning to the role of Barry Allen, having appeared previously in Zack Snyder’s Justice League and the theatrical cut of the movie. He also had cameos as The Flash in both Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman.

Batman Returns

Keaton last suited up as Batman in 1992. When it was announced that he was returning for The Flash movie, fans were excited to see one of the most iconic Batman actors return to the role. This version of Keaton’s character is from a parallel earth to the one that Ezra Miller’s Flash comes from. The actor was pictured on set as Bruce Wayne, standing outside of a courthouse and sporting a suit.

A New Supergirl

Sasha Calle is a relatively unknown American actress. She’s starring as Supergirl and The Flash will be her feature film debut. Amongst the set photos, we finally have a look at her suit. Whereas previous incarnations of Supergirl in live-action have been based on Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, it’s been speculated that Calle is playing Lara Lane-Kent – Superman and Lois Lane’s daughter in the Injustice universe.

Lara only appears in a dream sequence in the comics. In reality, she was killed before birth. But, similarly with Keaton appearing as Batman, The Flash is known to be set on a parallel earth. The resemblance between their suits is undeniable, making this theory completely plausible.

The suit also bears some similarities to Henry Cavill’s Superman. Perhaps we will see a link between these two characters in the movie.

Barry and Iris

In photos of Ezra Miller, we see him wearing a suit and exiting a courthouse with Kiersey Clemons who is portraying Iris West. Clemons and Miller shared the screen in Zack Snyder’s Justice League after originally having their scene cut for the theatrical release.

Barry and Iris’ relationship is a central plot throughout both characters’ histories. Where we didn’t see the pair interacting much in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, we’re likely to see their romance further explored in The Flash.

In both cuts of Justice League, The Flash wanted to clear his father’s name for the murder of his mother. The courthouse shown in this scene could be linked to the case.

Flash Ring

Miller sports a large ring with his outfit, which could be the ring that stores The Flash’s suit in both the comics and the CW TV Show. In both of these incarnations, Barry can use the ring to make a quick change – something which we’re likely to see Ezra Miller’s Flash do in his movie.

The ring can be seen on his left hand.

What do we know so far?

There’s currently a lot of speculation about the movie and these set photos only encouraged the fan theories. In time, we’ll see a trailer released and more will become clear.

The only official look that fans have had at the film so far have come from director Andy Muschietti’s Instagram. He’s posted some concept art, close-ups of Batman, Supergirl and The Flash’s suits, as well as the movies official logo. There have also been a few behind the scenes pictures of the starring actors’ chairs.

There’s no doubt that speculation about the film will continue up until we see at least a trailer. After all, this project has been in development since the early 2000s and has gone through multiple scripts and directors. For now, the set photos and sneak previews from the director are all we have to go on.

Just like we do for every highly-anticipated comic book movie, we’ll have to be patient for now.
