Everyone loves Batman. Everyone loves LEGO. Well, unless you have mistakenly stepped on a piece late at night, resulting in levels of never before experienced pain. So when the LEGO Batman movie was announced, who wasn’t excited?
‘The LEGO Batman Movie’ is acting as a spin-off to extremely popular and beloved ‘The LEGO Movie’, which was a box-office hit.
While that followed a somewhat generic story (for the standards of LEGO), this new installment draws viewers into the mysterious and turbulent Gotham City, the hometown of Bruce Wayne.
Directed by Chris McKay, the genius behind TV’s ‘Robot Chicken’, the movie will star Will Arnett as Wayne and Batman, as well as a host of other solid voiceovers and characters; Rosario Dawson as Batgirl/Barbara Gordon, Michael Cera as Robin/Dick Grayson, Zach Galifianakis as The Joker, and what I am most excited for, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred Pennyworth.
With a cast like that, backed by a director of McKay’s caliber, I think we are in for a fun and witty experience at the movies.
Just watch the trailer and you’ll understand what I mean. Hopefully, we aren’t let down with another ‘meh’ Batman movie, once again. The sweet and funky soundtrack, as well as the array of pop-culture references on top of the overall sense of humor leads me to think that this will be something special.
What do you guys think? ‘The LEGO Batman Movie’ drops in cinemas on the 30th of March, 2017 – save the date!
