Laurie Strode and Michael Myers are battling out one final time in the Halloween 2018 movie.
Yes that’s right, the final showdown between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers will take place in 2018’s Halloween.
The movie is to be released on October 19, and picks up from where the original Halloween left off. Yep, ignore all of the Halloween movies that were released after 1978 (and there were a lot of them).
What is Halloween 2018 about and how does it fit into the franchise?
This Halloween 2018 movie picks up 40 years after Laurie Strode had her first run-in with Michael Myers in the original Halloween. The story will revolve around Laurie Stroud, her daughter and granddaughter.
Strode’s granddaughter, played by Andi Matichak, is the narrator. Matichak’s character is still unnamed, but hopefully in the trailer we will learn who she is and her role in the film.
Laurie Strode has been haunted by Michael Myers since the first run-in she had with him in Haddonfield, Illinois. She is obsessed with the possibility of his return, certain that he will, one day, come back for more.
Michael Myers was sentenced to a mental institution after being shot by Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence) in the original Halloween.
But a documentary team now wants to do a film about him, fascinated by the famous serial killer. Myers escaped from an institution 40 years earlier and then went on a killing spree. This time, when the team shows up to interview him… well, you guessed it: He escapes.
Yes, Myers escapes from the institution (are you surprised?), returns to Haddonfield to kill Laurie Stroud (surprised yet?), and builds up a sizeable body count in the process (how about now?).
But Laurie Stroud is not only expecting Myers to show up, she is prepared for it. She has been waiting for this showdown for over 40 years. Her house has been turned into a fortress with weapons and booby traps everywhere.
Laurie Stroud plans to kill Michael Myers once and for all.
Michael did not see that coming.
Cast and crew
Nick Castle will be reprising his role as Myers, Jaime Lee Curtis as Laurie Stroud, and even John Carpenter is back for Halloween 2018. Woo hoo!
Another great bit of news is that one of the writers is Danny McBride of Underworld fame. David Gordon Green is director and writer.
The Halloween excitement starts now.
Stroud did a formidable job holding Myers off as a scared teenager. Today, she is a determined mother and grandmother who has spent most of her life preparing to kill the spectre that has haunted her for 40 years.
My money is on Laurie Stroud to kick some Michael Myers Ass.
With such a powerhouse cast and crew, this horror lover is hoping for a movie so scary I won’t be able to sleep for weeks.
The official Halloween 2018 movie trailer will be released early June.
