Thirty-two brand new character posters have been released for Avengers: Endgame.
Both the survivors of the snap, and our fallen heroes feature on the posters. While the remaining heroes are shown in full colour, those lost to the snap appear in a sombre grey.
All thirty-two bear the tagline ‘Avenge The Fallen’.
The posters also reveal new information about the characters in the film.
The Good News
The good news to come from the posters is the reveal that some characters with previously unrevealed fates have been confirmed alive.
The Iron Man supporting cast has been spared, with Pepper Potts and Happy Hogan both appearing on colour posters. While Pepper was already strongly rumoured to have survived, Happy’s survival is new information.
Possibly the biggest reveal in the coloured posters is the inclusion of Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie. Until now, Thompson’s presence in Avengers: Endgame was only rumoured, but the poster appears to confirm her role in the film. Valkyrie’s survival will prove a boost to Thor, who suffered heavy losses in Infinity War.
The Bad News
The fate of Wakanda’s Princess Shuri was left unrevealed at the end of Infinity War. The character did not appear during the snap sequence, so many initially assumed she had survived.
Shuri’s picture did appear among those missing in Endgame’s first teaser, but fans still clung to hope that she could pull a miraculous return.
The Avengers: Endgame poster reveal has shattered those hopes. Shuri’s poster is greyed out, just like all the other dusted heroes. While the fate of Queen Ramonda remains unknown, it seems likely that Wakanda’s entire royal family has been wiped out.
The Groot News
Of all the victims of the snap, the loss of Groot was among the most devastating to fans. After all, we have been watching this Groot grow ever since he sprouted at the end of the first Guardians Of The Galaxy film.
Now, a few fans have noticed a new detail, hinting at how Groot may continue to grow, if the snap is reversed.
In Groot’s Endgame poster, he, like many teens, seems to be sprouting whiskers on his chin. Fans have dubbed the new facial hair ‘the Groot-tee’.
We’ll have to wait just a little longer to see if Groot gets the chance to sprout a full-blown beard. Avengers: Endgame hits theatres on April 26.
