The release of Avengers: Endgame is now only weeks away.

All of the characters present in Endgame are sure to play an important role in the film’s story. After all, there is a reason Marvel chose to spare them from Thanos’s snap.

However, even in a story where every character is vital to some degree, some will still be more important than others.

Let’s discuss the most important characters in Avengers: Endgame.

1. Tony Stark

Characters in Avengers Endgame
Tony first encounter with Thanos’s forces in Avengers: Infinity War.

An obvious one, but he has to be included.

After the events of Avengers: Infinity War, Tony is left stranded in space with Nebula after the rest of the Avengers/Guardians alliance falls prey to the snap. Many fans have speculated on who will be responsible for rescuing Tony from space.

However this plays out in the film, the latest Avengers: Endgame trailer reveals that Tony does in fact make it back to Earth. Reunited with the other Avengers, they set out on a last ditch effort to fix what went wrong.

In Infinity War, Doctor Strange gives up the Time Stone to save Tony’s life, something he had earlier stated he would not do. However, this sacrifice comes after Strange has looked into the future.

Strange knew exactly how events have to unfold for the timeline in which the Avengers win. Whatever the plan is, Tony is clearly a vital part of it.

2. Nebula

Nebula could hold important info.

Nebula ends Infinity War in what is undoubtedly a very bad place.

Her sister, the only person she truly cares about, is dead. Most of her sister’s surrogate family, a family that was just beginning to accept Nebula as well, are also dead. She is trapped in space with a man she barely knows.

And to top it all off, her adoptive father, Thanos, is responsible for it all.

Somehow, with Tony, Nebula makes it to Earth. She is apparently welcomed into the fold by the surviving Avengers.

Nebula was raised by Thanos. She trained at his feet. If anyone is going to know a weakness Thanos has that the Avengers can exploit, it would be Nebula.

3. Scott Lang

Scott will bring knowledge of the Quantum realm.

As seen in the first Endgame teaser, the Avengers are surprised by Scott Lang’s appearance at their door. They quite understandably believed him to be among the dusted.

Scott returns to a much emptier world than the one he left, but the Avengers will be glad to have him. The brand new suits most of the Avengers are wearing in the trailer are speculated to be Quantum Realm suits, like those first seen in Ant-Man & The Wasp.

Scott is the only member of the team known to have experience with the Quantum Realm. His input could prove vital.

4. Rocket Raccoon

Rocket lost his surrogate son, Groot, to the snap.

Rocket Racoon lost more than most in the tragic events of Infinity War.

He lost a best friend and surrogate son in Groot. Rocket has also lost his entire surrogate family with the deaths of the other Guardians, a fact Rocket does not yet know, but will quickly find out when Tony and Nebula reach Earth.

Rocket is a tech genius, and hailing from space, has probably seen technology that even the cleverest of the Avengers have never laid eyes on. His knowledge of this tech could prove an important asset to the team.

5. Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel will give the Avengers a boost.

Captain Marvel is now in theatres, and the character of Carol Danvers is winning fans.

In Endgame, we will get to see how Carol fits in with the rest of the surviving Avengers.

Captain Marvel is not going to swoop in and suddenly solve the team’s problems. The Avengers films don’t work that way, and never have worked that way. They win as a team.

What Carol will do is give the Avengers a much needed power boost.

We can’t wait to see the team back in action when Avengers: Endgame hits theatres in April.
