Comic books fans of Australia, we come bearing exciting news about Batman: The Killing Joke!
Thanks to Roadshow Films, the iconic graphic novel ‘Batman: The Killing Joke’ is here for a once-off screening on Sunday July 24, before its digital release on July 27, and DVD and Blu-ray release on August 3.
This latest DC Universe original movie delves into the demented history of the Dark Knight’s arch nemesis, The Joker, as he sets out to prove insanity is only a horrifying moment away from anyone. ‘Batman: The Killing Joker’ takes a journey into the dark psyche of the Clown Prince of Crime: from his humble beginnings as a struggling comedian, to his fateful encounter with Batman – a meeting that changes both of their lives forever. Years later, and now escaped from Arkham Asylum, The Joker devises a plan to prove that one bad day can make anyone as insane as he is, setting lethal sights on Commissioner Gordon.
This feature-length animation brings together an impressive creative team, including Bruce Timm as executive producer, as well as the return of Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill to their influential roles as Batman and The Joker respectively.
Yet this may not be one for the kids or the faint hearted, being the first ever DC animation to receive an R Rating in the US. Violence or not though, this film will unquestionably stay true to the authentic tale that has held our imaginations captive for nearly three decades. It will spotlight the birth of a brutal Super-Villain and the fortitude of a Super Hero, who risks his own life for justice and tranquility.
There will be more information on participating cinemas and bonus features revealed very soon, so please sit tight. For the moment though, just enjoy the trailer and get excited!
