Jonathan Wilson from the UK has started a Crowdfunder campaign to build Minas Tirith.
This is the White City from Lord of The Rings, where Gandalf and Pippin defended the freedom of Middle Earth from Mordor and Sauron.
Personally, I can’t fault his vision, or his passion. If I was an architect I couldn’t think of a better project for the realms of men. After all, there is some good in this world, and it’s worth fighting for. Sorry. This post is going to be full of LOTR quotes.
It’s a pretty ambitious campaign, yet dawn is ever the hope of men, and it hasn’t stopped Mr Jon giving it a good go. He has generated over £10,000 so far, showing a bit of interest. If you want to contribute some of your gold coins, head over to indiegogo.com/projects/realise-minas-tirith.
Here’s what your money will get you from a Minas Tirith investment:
£100,000: A lordship or ladyship of Minas Tirith
£3: A follow on Twitter
£15: Your name on a Minas Tirith monument
£25: A free tour
£50: A plaque with your name on it
£80,000: You can name a small street
£1,720,000: A 4 bedroom penthouse
In all honesty I would choose Bilbo’s hobbit hole any day. The budget required might also be slightly less than the £1.85 billion needed for Minas Tirith.
I’m off to light the beacons of Gondor.
