According to numerous sources, Neil Blomkamp’s Alien 5 is on hold due to Prometheus 2. Argh.

Alien 5 is confusing huh?

But, let’s look at this in a good way. More time in movies is never a bad thing. Take Mad Max’s 30 year wait for example – the end result was glorious. In the meantime, while we wait, let’s clear up a few things.

Neil Blomkamp’s Alien upcoming film, apparently, bins off Alien 3 and 4, which is a good thing considering how much they sucked the life-force from the first 2 films and turned it into something that, despite being entertaining, was a bit messy. I only hope someone may in time do the same for Star Wars I,II and III and just ignore them, re-write them, kill them, and Jar-Jar.

Anyway. We have been given some (very) concept photos for the concept behind the next Alien, and boy, that got me excited because….

It looks like Michael Biehn is back.

I hope so, because after watching the re-make of Terminator (the latest one with like, a hundred Arnies and whatever, who cares) it became clear to me that no-one will come close in my mind to the soldier character that Michael Biehn has down to a T. I mean, the acting and style is just another level, several levels higher than this guy.

And definitely this guy – who killed the Die Hard series. How do you even do that?

It’s not even a comparison in my book, and although some of the younger lot in the office disagree (they’re still wrong), Michael Biehn creates tension, drama and without him, both movies just wouldn’t have been the same. I feel very strongly on this point.

Michael Biehn, it’s good to have you back. Without you it’s Game Over Man, Game Over. And kids, don’t argue.

Opinions are welcome, but you know… if you disagree, then they’re wrong on this point.
