At the end of their E3 conference, Bethesda revealed Fallout Shelter.

A mobile game in which you manage your own Vault-Tec shelter and its dwellers. The game was available for iOS just one day after the announcement, and it was popular. Very popular.

Good news for Android users as the Fallout Shelter game came out a couple of days ago on the platform.

The game already has over a million downloads. And that’s completely deserved because the game is incredibly fun, addictive and will strap you to your phone so you can take care of your Vault.

Fallout Shelter is simple.

You start with a vault that has a couple of rooms, and you have half a dozen wastelanders that are waiting outside the door ready to enter. So, and interesting scenario, and problem to have.

There are three basic resources:  power, water and food. All of the dwellers have the same SPECIAL (strength, perception, endurance, charisma, intelligence, agility and luck) traits system from other Fallout games. Every trait is important for something because the rooms that produce resources are more productive if a dweller with specific high traits accesses them.

There is a radio room used to attract more dwellers to your vault, which will, naturally, have a higher chance for success if you put dwellers with high charisma on the radio. Dwellers with high perception will be better at handling arms etc etc. You get the picture.

You can send people in Fallout Shelter out in the Wasteland to collect weapons and armor which is pretty important because it’s the only way, besides lunchboxes (more on that later), to acquire new equipment. You’ll be needing that equipment because there are regular raider attacks and accidents which can include infestations, as well as fires. Brutal, apocalyptic stuff.

As you get more dwellers, new rooms begin to unlock. You can train any of the dwellers SPECIAL traits, or build improved versions of resource production facilities. Think developing your COD character combined with upgrading buildings in Red Alert/Civilization.

New dwellers are available through lunchboxes, by radio or by breeding your male and female dwellers, and the best way to do that is to pair up couples with highest stats because in that way their children will have bigger chance to be born with better traits. Wow, this really is a pretty drastic situation huh?

Fallout shelter is a huge time consumer, great game and it’s a great promotion for the upcoming Fallout 4, falling out on you around November 10 for PS4, XboxOne and PC.

Get your gas masks on.
