Should Zazie Beetz star in a Domino solo movie? Yes, yes she should. Check out these 5 reasons why Marvel should release a solo Domino movie.
Domino was definitely one of the highlights of Deadpool 2 and the verdict is fans want to see more.
Right, let’s get stuck in.
1 – Marvel needs more exciting female characters like Domino
I see so many good things coming out of a solo Domino Marvel movie. She’s one cool cat and could be a true role model in a Marvel universe dominated by male characters.
Too many of Marvel’s female heroes are characterized by traumatic pasts and self pity. It would be a nice change to see a positive, fun and carefree heroine who inspires as well as wrecks shit with a smile on her face.
Not to mention, a Domino solo movie would be super entertaining. Just imagine her leaving a trail of destruction and witty one liners in her path. Ahh, the possibilities are endless.
I’d love to see Deadpool make an appearance as well. But I think most would agree that Deadpool’s supporting cast stole the show. Particularly Domino’s charm and I don’t give a f**k attitude.
Yes Marvel, are you taking notes? More please!
2 – Zazie Beetz’s armpit hair stole the spotlight in Deadpool 2
The internet reaction over Zazie Beetz’s armpit hair in Deadpool 2 is enough to warrant a Domino movie. Zazie has stated that her decision to go o’natural was largely accidental, as she forgot to shave prior to shooting Deadpool 2. But I think it adds a fuzzy layer of relate-ability to Domino’s character.
In her MCU debut, Domino came across as too chill to care, unapologetic and super badass. She just doesn’t seem like a character who gives a shit about arm pit hair. She just has no time for anyone else’s nonsense and makes everyone look like a fool (especially Deadpool, but that’s not difficult).
3 – Domino’s character had the coolest powers in Deadpool 2
I mean, I was sold from the very first scene introducing Domino. That scene where Domino and Deadpool are arguing over whether luck is a super power and Domino is like “yeah it is” and Deadpool is like “no it isn’t” and then Domino is like “ummm yeah it is.” Well after seeing the rest of the movie, I have to agree with Domino.
Luck is one hell of a cool super power and I wish I had it, but sadly, no dice on that one.
In fact, luck is all you really need.
Everything from landing on a giant inflatable pander to having all her enemies accidentally kill themselves.
The possibilities for a solo Domino Marvel movie are endless. You could literally have any situation play out no matter how ridiculous. It would only be restricted by the director’s creative limits.
4 – Zazie Beetz as Domino could be the perfect heroine for diversity alongside Black Panther
It’s a shame there was so much criticism of David Leitch changing the ethnicity of Domino’s character. But after seeing Deadpool 2, I reckon even the most hardcore fans were mezmerized by Zazie Beetz’s charm.
With Black Panther’s success, I reckon a solo Domino movie is exactly what we need right now. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Zazie Beetz has stated:
“I think black women are often depicted specifically in terms of the struggle, and never having the privilege of feeling light at heart and feeling that release, and that’s a pretty cool thing to see on a screen.”
I think Domino starring in her own Marvel movie could be a step in the right direction. Black Panther did a fantastic job of portraying struggles with kingdom, heritage and assimilation. But I also think it could be great to see diversity portrayed in a more positive light as well.
I hope one day we can see diversity on screen without having to justify it with politics. So lead the way Marvel!
5 – A Domino solo movie could include a relationship with Cable
Along with Domino, Cable was a highlight of Deadpool 2. He’s just all kinds of cool and his bionic arm is badass. Cable provided the brooding, serious backbone to Deadpool 2 that the movie needed. Without Cable, the whole movie is just a series of gags.
You comic book fans might know that Domino’s backstory includes a rather intimate friendship with Cable. They met during the creation of the mercenary group, 6 Pack, in which Domino helped build. Ever since their first meeting, their paths continued to be intertwined.
To cut a long story short, Cable and Domino switch between being allies, then enemies and then allies again pretty frequently. Cable has saved Domino from being captured by the super villain Tolliver (aka Genesis) and they have also tried to kill each other for numerous reasons. Their friendship/relationship is pretty complicated (as is everything in Marvel).
But I think this would be a super interesting dynamic to explore in a Domino origin movie.
Also Domino has a pretty interesting past in general. She was created as an experiment to become the ultimate weapon and has mad fighting skills due to being involved in mercenary groups most of her life. So who wouldn’t want to see that on the big screen?
Zazie Beetz as Domino will star in Marvel’s X-Force movie.
We may be getting a lot of what I’ve mentioned in the upcoming X-Force movie. This movie would be a great way to get our fix of Domino, Deadpool and Cable as well as explore other exciting heroes as they fight crime together.
An X-Force movie could also feature any number of X-Men heroes, the possibilities are endless. I wonder who the villain will be?
So there you have it, 5 reasons why we need to see an MCU Domino solo movie. If Marvel doesn’t get around to making it happen, then I guess X-Force will have to do.
So many things to look forward to in the MCU!
