The following article contains spoilers for The Bad Batch episode 13: Infested.
Returning from yet another mission for the Cid, the Batch find that things are different on Ord Mantell. When they arrive at Cid’s Parlor, the boss is nowhere to be seen. But, there are some hostile guards and a new face in Cid’s office waiting to greet the team.
Overthrown
Cid intercepts the Bad Batch when they return to their ship. Hunter had been planning on having the team leave Ord Mantell, much to Omega’s dismay. But, their ally has other ideas. Cid explains that the devaronian who took over her parlor is Roland Durand. He’s trying to make a name for himself in the criminal underworld by joining up with the Pykes, who fans will recognise as the dangerous criminal syndicate who deal primarily in spice. Roland took Cid’s Parlor because it’s a well-connected location he could deal spice from.
A reluctant Hunter is pushed to go along with Cid’s plan to reclaim the parlor. Roland is due to meet a buyer to acquire a shipment of spice and Cid plans on stealing the spice to disrupt his supply chain. She takes them through Ord Mantell’s old mining tunnels to enter the parlor from underground.

The Hive
Cid warns the team to stay silent as they pass through the tunnels to avoid waking The Hive, elaborating that there’s an infestation living in the abandoned mines. It’s not long before Wrecker hears a noise and accidentally drops his torch when investigating. Aside from a few stirring sounds from the pits of the cavern, they make it to Cid’s office beneath the parlor unscathed.
A pair of Cid’s regular clients cause a distraction to get Roland out of the bar, giving the Batch time to infiltrate and steal the spice shipment. But, the diversion doesn’t buy them enough time and as they escape back through the mining tunnels with the spice, they find Roland’s guards on their tail.
It doesn’t take long for more trouble to find the team. As they travel back through the cave, their pursuers fire at them, which wakes The Hive. A swarm of bugs engulfs the Batch and Roland’s guards. In a fortunate turn of events, the swarm topples the mining carts that Roland’s guards are in. The Batch manages to make an escape with Cid when Tech realises that the bugs are opposed to light, but they lose the stolen spice in the process.

A Deal Gone South
When the Pykes go to collect their spice from Roland, they’re met with an empty-handed dealer. Furious, they vow to make him pay. But, they still want their spice. Having interrogated Cid’s customers from earlier, Roland is able to tell them that it was her and the Bad Batch who stole the spice.
The Pykes demand to have their spice back and Cid claims innosense. Knowing the truth, they threaten the Batch to bring them their goods and take Omega to ensure their cooperation. With no other choice, they head back to the tunnels with Cid to retrieve the spice.
Tech is able to identify The Hive creatures as irlings and finds their weaknesses. Hunter and Echo stay on the ship above the cavern whilst Cid and Wrecker rappel down to find the spice and send it back up to their teammates. Meanwhile, Tech tinkers with a device that he believes will fight off the irlings.

Prisoners
Omega is left with Roland in Cid’s Parlor, both under the watchful eye of the Pykes. He warns her that if her friends don’t manage to return the spice, they’ll both suffer for it. The pair converse about Roland’s criminal background and his pet, Ruby, takes a liking to Omega. She remains optimistic that they’ll make it out of their predicament.

Another Happy Landing
As Wrecker and Cid secure the crates of spice one by one and get them aboard the ship, The Hive awakes. With the final crate connected to the line, both Cid and Wrecker grab ahold and are pulled out of the cavern whilst being swarmed by irlings. Hunter calls on Tech, who has prepared a distraction for the light-sensitive creatures. He throws the device into the cavern and it lets off an intense light, which causes the swarm to scatter.
The team are then able to deliver the spice and be reunited with Omega without complication. Roland, however, is not as lucky. Cid and Omega are able to talk to the Pykes out of killing Roland, but they do slice off one of his horns as compensation. Omega hands him Ruby and they part ways, the Batch heading back to the bar after Cid promises them a round of drinks on her.
