It’s official. Suicide Squad Reshoots have been confirmed.

From the January trailer release of David Ayer’s ‘Suicide Squad’, presenting a fair share of humorous one-liners accompanied by the soundtrack of Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, there has been a high expectation of dark humor that goes beyond the normal superhero movie (Deadpool excluded). As per usual nowadays, many of the larger film productions go back well after the official end of shoot date to reshoot some additional footage and scenes. Yet, it has come to question among many DC film lovers if the trailer had fairly shed light on the humor of the film, or if Ayer scheduled a large scale reshoot in order to add some much needed additional comedy to the movie after an enthusiastic rave by fans of the trailer.

However, when questioned about the reshoots during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Aussie actor Jai Courtney who plays the assassin, Captain Boomerang (funnily enough), stated that “I wouldn’t say we were going back to make it funnier. There’s some additional action stuff that we’ve been doing, which is really dope.”

Entertainment Tonight’s recent report claimed that the reshoots were taken to expand on the film’s gloomy aesthetic and to insert an undertone that more compliments the fact that the film’s main heroines are sinful and psychotic. On that note, we can expect huge, action packed scenes and explosions throughout the film, as Warner Bros. are not shying away from splashing out the big bucks to invest in this film.

Although no actual movie plot has been revealed as of yet, we can expect that it follows the same basic guideline as the DC comic books. The Suicide Squad are a secret team of super villains who have been incarcerated by the United States government and forced to undertake high-risk (almost suicidal) missions in an exchange for reduced jail sentences. The Suicide Squad sees characters such as Boomerang, Deadshot Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, El Diablo, Slipknot, Rick Flagg and Katana, as well as other features from Amanda Waller, the government official in charge of The Suicide Squad, and of course ‘the bad guy’ in a book of ‘bad guys’, The Joker.

The film is scheduled to be released on August 5.
