The 30th of May 2017 marked 15 years since the highly successful and shagedelic release of ‘Austin Powers in Goldmember’.
The entire Powers trilogy has made over “1 Billion Dollars! Mwahahaha” (pinkie finger to lips), while the latest of the films, Goldmember, alone made over $300M in the worldwide box-office, which makes us wonder what’s stopping Director Jay Roach and international man of mystery Mike Myers from making another one.
For the past decade there have been talks and speculation of another Austin Powers sequel, and although these rumors have been dwindling for a while now, it is still very plausible to believe that we have not yet seen the last of Austin Danger Powers.
Roach – who was promoting his latest film “All the way”, which recently premiered on HBO – revealed on ‘Larry King Now’ that himself and Myers are still “kicking around ideas”, yet nothing so far has quite “stuck yet”. He continued to say, “You know, Mike Myers and I talk about it every time we get together. I would say it’s in a latent phase right now, but someday if we find the right idea that seems to have it earn itself, for sure. Mike gave me the break of a lifetime in letting me direct [Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery] so I’m always good to go.”
Even though we are still waiting patiently for a brilliant idea from the ‘smashing’ duo, we want to reach out to all Austin or Dr Evil fans out there and tell them not to give up hope, because the possibility of the sixties swinger reappearing on the big-screen is not a far fetched idea.
It still remains a very lively prospect. And to Myers and Roach, we hope you don’t take your initial plan of action; “First, I plan to soil myself. Then I’m going to regroup and come up with a new plan”, but rather be inspired to come up with a brilliant idea that brings us the so desperately sought after Austin Powers 4.
But until then, “Oooo, Behave”
